Size
The Joovy Kooper X2 double stroller is a side by side double stroller. It can hold two children weighing up to 50 pounds. twin buggy are bigger than the other double strollers with lightweights and the canopies feature large SPF 50 sunshades with peekaboo windows. Other key features include cup holders for one parent and an enormous, self-standing basket that can accommodate up to 25 pounds; swing-away bar for children to get into and out of their seats; and swivel lock front wheels to allow for better maneuverability on rough terrain. This is a great choice for suburban and urban families. It also comes with a newborn-friendly two sets that include an infant wedgie that can be used to lie flat in a position.
Weight
The weight of a double buggy is among the key factors that will determine its ease to push. A lighter buggy is simpler to lift and carry but may not have enough suspension to deal with bumps and uneven terrain.
Check the specifications of each model before buying. Some double buggies come with an upper limit on the weight of the seats and others have an overall frame limit. Some double buggies are able to fold with the seats removed, which makes them lighter and more compact. This is a great option in cases where you have limited storage space.
The tri-fold doubles are generally the lightest of models since only one hand is needed to lift the front and back sections. They're also narrower than side-by-side buggies, which makes them a good choice to fit through doorways. The iCandy Geo 3 is one of the lightest tri-fold doubles available on the market, and can comfortably hold twins or a toddler and a baby.
Tandem buggies are great for growing families since they begin as a single stroller, but can be adapted to accommodate a second seat, car seat or carrycot. Some, like the iCandy Orange offer over 30 different seating configurations, so they can expand with your family up to a 3rd child. These doubles are heavier than trifolds, however, because the weight is evenly distributed, they are easier to maneuver.

Folding
The most effective double buggies for young children fold in a matter of minutes. This feature is appreciated by our Lab experts since they can put the buggies in the back of their vehicles and save space when they're not in use. The Joovy Kooper X2 for example comes with straps that can be pulled up over each seat and the entire thing folds down. Even our oldest testers were able to fold the tri-fold with only one hand.
The lightweight Delta Children LX Side by Side is a good alternative for a small double buggie. Its lightness is an advantage but is the features it offers: large pop-out canopies that include SPF 50 protection and a peekaboo window; swing-away bars to help children to get into and out of seats; and reclined chair and leg rests for toddlers.
Manoeuvrability
When selecting a compact double stroller, it is important to consider its maneuverability. This includes the ease for both children to be able to ride in the buggy. Some pushchairs are better than others, including the iCandy Orange's "cinema chair" (where the back is elevated).
This is where narrow tandem buggies as well as side-by-side designs can be useful. However, they can be a bit longer overall, and therefore could be difficult to maneuver through doorways.
The UPPAbaby Vista 2 is an excellent example of this since it's a compact pushchair that allows two seats to be added, and the most important thing is an 'piggyback'-style board that can accommodate an additional child.
Other smaller, three wheeled models, like the phil&teds Dot are also extremely flexible. This is especially the case with its clever "dot kit" that transforms it into an inline buggie. It comes with two seating arrangements for children of different age groups, and the front seat can be turned so that it faces the parents to create more intimate bonding. It also comes with a fantastic storage basket and is super-easy to fold. This is a great choice for families that are growing.
